Hasina released the manifesto at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, eight days before the 10th general elections scheduled for Jan 5, bdnews24.com reported.

In the manifesto, the Awami League promised to finish the second bridge on the Jamuna and Padma rivers, empower the Anti-Corruption Commission, bring the whole country under 4G telephony and make electoral reforms.

Verdicts against war criminals will be implemented, the manifesto promised.

The main opposition, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party led by former prime minister Khaleda Zia, has urged people to march towards Dhaka Dec 29 to stall the elections.

Zia’s 18-party opposition alliance seeks cancellation of the polls over Hasina’s refusal for non-party interim government to oversee the elections.

Abdul Quader Mollah, assistant secretary general of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami party, was executed earlier this month for crimes against humanity in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
