Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) Saturday said it registered a 10.8 percent increase in freight loading during the April-January period of this fiscal compared to growth in the same period last year.
The ECoR has carried 108.19 million tonnes of freight against 97.62 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last financial year, a senior official of Bhubaneswar-headquartered ECoR told IANS.
During January 2013 alone, the ECoR has loaded 12.66 million tonnes of freight as against 10.46 million tonnes loaded during January 2012, which is 21.1 percent more than that of last year.
This is eight percent more than the target fixed by Railway Board that is a loading of 11.73 million tonnes, he said.
