Venu will also function as vice-chancellor of the National Museum Institute, a deemed university offering rare courses in museology, conservation and art history, the ministry said.

The National Museum hosts 200,000 works of art.

A Kerala-cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Venu combined culture with technology to put Kerala on the global tourism map.

He was the chief architect of the Kerala Tourism’s award-winning global campaign – ‘Your Moment is Waiting’ – launched at London’s Chelsea Gallery in 2010.
