The demands of the 11 central trade unions that have called the nationwide shutdown:
1. Controlling inflation and price rise
2.Concrete measures for employment generation
3. Strict enforcement of labour laws
4. Social security for organised and unorganised sector workers
5. Stopping disinvestment of central and state public sector undertakings
6. Paying wages and benefits to contract workers similar to regular workers
7. Amending the Minimum Wages Act
8. Removal of ceiling on payment and eligibility of bonus and provident fund
9. Assured pension to all
10. Compulsory registry of trade union within 45 days
