Ghazipur/Aligarh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced the construction of an auditorium and library in memory of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the Aligarh Muslim University at Shri Shivnath Singh Girls Government College, Ghazipur.
Sir Syed had also established a school at Ghazipur which was named as Victoria School (established 1864) at Ghazipur. Later its name was changed to Shri Shivnath Singh Girls Government College.
The Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) Aligarh has welcomed the decision of the UP CM. Jasim Mohammad, secretary of MBMC has demanded that the college at Ghazipur should be renamed as Sir Syed Mission Government College to pay tribute to the great educationist. Prof. Shahabuddin Iraqi of MBMC said that the UP Government should pay attention to Tehseel Madarsa (established 1859) which was established by Sir Syed at other places like Moradabad.
In a meeting MBMC also passed a resolution demanding ) that the college at Ghazipur should be renamed as ‘Sir Syed Mission College’ and its management be handed over to the Aligarh Muslim University after declaring it as a Minority Education Institution.
