New Delhi: The Centre for Culture, Media & Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize a three-day International Conference on “Contours of Media Governance: Teaching, Disciplinarity, Methodology” on February 25-27, 2013.
Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for HRD will deliver the inaugural address on this occasion. The inaugural session of the conference will be held on February 25, 2013 at 5 PM in Edward Said Hall at the Administrative Block of the university. Prof. Ved Prakash, Chairman, University Grants Commission will be the guest of honour in the inaugural session. Vice Chancellor of the Najeeb Jung will preside over the session.
The conference will address trends in interdisciplinary media studies, and their ability to engage with the emergent media milieu. Informed by the possibilities offered by “governance” as a frame of reference, the focus of this conference is on the methodological, pedagogical and curriculum innovations. This will see multiple dialogues between scholars, teachers and advocates, working in cross-cultural and corss-national settings.
As a part of the conference, a public lecture will be delivered by Francois Heinderyckx, President-elect, International Communication Association, Professor, Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium on “Publics & Policy: Challenges to Interdisciplinary Communication Studies.
The conference includes thirteen technical sessions where papers will be presented for broad deliberations from different disciplines on relevant topics.
