Kolkata : The West Bengal government Wednesday announced setting up of 88 permanent fast-track courts and creation of 94 judges’ posts for speedy disposal of cases.
“The central government is indifferent to the fast-track courts and does not allot funds for those. Our government took a decision in the cabinet meet to set up 88 permanent fast track-courts and create posts of 94 judges of different categories for those courts,” state Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
Chatterjee said the Mamata Banerjee-led government has taken the decision notwithstanding the state’s acute financial crisis for speedy disposal of cases.
“Despite severe financial crunch, the state government has taken this decision to ensure that people get justice without spending much time on court proceedings,” he added.
