Hoshiarpur (Punjab) : Punjab Police Wednesday started investigation into the recovery of the body of a seven-year-old girl from agricultural fields in this district.
The body was found dumped in the fields near Simbli village, 160 km from Chandigarh.
The victim was the grand-daughter of a migrant from Bihar.
Police suspect that the girl was raped and murdered by a relative, Sanjay, 25, who had also come from Bihar recently.
The victim’s grandfather told police in his complaint that the girl and his grandson Sanjay had gone missing Tuesday.
Police said Sanjay has been booked for rape and murder.
