An Islamic gathering with a difference

Hyderabad: Chand Pasha is in blissful mood, today being deaf is no disability for him, and he along with other like him are performing on stage an Islamic Drama and enthralling the audience.

At Spring of Islam conference organized by Jamat-e-Islami Hind a special cultural session for physically challenged was arranged, where persons with disability showed the abeles the power of will.

The session which was mainly organized for the students of Jamat-e-Islami managed Ideal Information Center for Disabled witnessed a huge gathering of participants from the conference. Some even skipped Ulema session to observe these unique performances.

The program began by recitation from Holy Quran and its translation, and then followed a poem in the praise of Allah ‘Allah is one’ in a sign language by a physically challenged student.

Then the IICD students performed a stage drama in sign language on the role of Islamic teachings in children to respect their Parents. The drama was based on the story of a deaf father and a son, and how an irresponsible son turn into a good obeying boy after taking admission in IICD for Islamic studies.

While some people in gathering were clapping to praise the talented students, other physically challenged persons in the audience were raising both of their hands during the programs as a gesture of applause in a sign language. An interpreter of sign language was translating whatever is being announced from the stage.

After a terrific stage performance, Syed Kafeel Ahmed from Kerala who runs a Dawah campaign for deaf persons presented a presentation in sign language on the five principles of Islam. Although the projector wasn’t working his presentation through sign language was keenly observed by the audience.

Khaja Arfiuddin, State President of Jamat-e-Islami also attended the session as a show of support to the physically challenged students. At the end of the session physically challenged students presented vote of thanks to the audience, the chief guests and the organizers of the conference for giving them the chance to prove their talent and for making them feel especial.
