MIM in another controversy; Gen Sec questions existence of Gandhi statue in state assembly

TwoCircles.net Staff Reporter,

Hyderabad: Majlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen has again got in the eyes of storm when the party’s general secretary Ahmed Pasha Quadri questioned the existence of Mahatma Gandhi statue at Andhra Pradesh State legislative Assembly premises.

Charminar MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri was delivering his speech at a book distribution ceremony for Urdu medium students at Jagtiyal, Karimnagar district. During his speech Quadri said the historic Legislative Assembly building was constructed by the Nizam but the successive Government installed Gandhi’s statue in the assembly building in an attempt to erase the history of Muslims in Hyderabad.

“In assembly Gandhiji’s statue was installed. Whose father’s building it is and who was fitted in the assembly? They want to change the history of India. Sitting in the building constructed by Nizam Sarkar they talk about changing the course of our history,” MIM general secretary said.

Repeating some parts of the speech which got MIM assembly floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in trouble, Ahmed Pasha Qadri said “Today whatever is there in India are our signs, you tell what your achievements are.”

Then again in the midst of slogan shouting he continued his ‘us’ and ‘they’ rhetoric said, “The colour of Red Fort has given by us, the height of Qutub Minar has given by us, the beauty of Taj Mahal is given by us, historic monuments like Mecca Masjid and Charminar is presented by us, what you have done in Hindustan?”

Soon Telugu news channels started telecasting the clips of Ahmed Pasha Quadri’s speech which was condemned by political leaders even from congress party.

Political analysts believe that Ahmed Pasha Qudari, a hardcore loyalist of Owaisi family and MIM general secretary couldn’t have made this remarks whit out the green signal from MIM chief itself. After Akbaruddin’s speech many believed party has openly started to return back to its pre-1948 roots and is trying to hit harmonies with Muslims in the Deccan region or erstwhile Nizam state in which it was ones been a de facto ruling party.

BJP Karimnagar district leaders lodged complain against MIM general secretary at Karimnagar town police station alleging that Ahmed Pasha Quadri has hurt the sentiments of Indians by questioning the existence of Gandhi statue in the Assembly.

Meanwhile in another latest development, TOI has reported that MIM chief Assaduddin Owaisi is going to be arrested in seven year old case regarding a protest on the demolition of a mosque. His younger brother, who is already in jail for his alleged hate speech, has presented before Sangreddy court in the same case.

TOI quoted Ramachandrapuram DSP Madhusudhan Reddy who said a non-bailabel warrant will be issued against Assaduddin owaisi and he will be arrested to be brought to the local court in Sangareddy.
