Srinagar : Eleven devotees were injured when the ceiling of a mosque collapsed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Friday, police said.
“The ceiling of a masjid at Mohalla Sayed, Gund Sarfraw, Ganderbal, collapsed during the Friday prayers. The masjid was jam-packed and the ceiling could not hold the weight of the gathering on the first floor,” said a senior police officer.
“The injured were taken to the hospital by the locals and police,” said the officer. Friday prayers had a special significance since it was the Milad-un-Nabi.
The mosque is situated 70 km north of Srinagar on the highway to Leh.
