Heavy rains lashe Himachal hills

    Shimla: The hills of Himachal Pradesh experienced moderate to heavy rains with Sujanpur Tira in Hamirpur district recording the highest rainfall in the state – 187 mm. More rains are in store, the Met office said Saturday.

    “Precipitation occurred at most places in the state with very heavy rainfall in Kangra, Hamirpur, Mandi and Sirmaur districts,” an official of the meteorological office told IANS.

    However, he said, there was no appreciable change in the maximum temperature in the past 24 hours. But the minimum temperature at different locations in the state decreased by about one or two notches.

    According to the Met office, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places in the state till Sunday.

    Nahan and Renuka towns in Sirmaur district received 185 mm and 169 mm rain respectively, till Saturday morning.

    However, capital Shimla experienced only 6.6 mm, while Manali, Dharamsala and Nadaun towns got 32 mm, 148 mm and 143 mm respectively.

    Jogindernagar town in Mandi district got 125 mm of rain.
