Central agencies fomenting trouble in Bengal, says Mamata

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Sunday accused central agencies of fomenting trouble in some areas of the state in collusion with opposition parties during the ongoing panchayat polls.

“There are some central government agencies which are fuelling unrest in some pockets of the state in a planned away. They are hand in glove with the major opposition political parties,” Banerjee said in an interview to a television channel.

She said the unrest was being reported from 15-20 pockets, while the majority of the area has remained peaceful.

In a write-up on the Trinamool Congress website, Banerjee alleged that the Congress, Communist Party of India-Marxist and Bharatiya Janata Party “are hell bent on spreading violence across the state”.

“At places, even the Maoists are trying to disturb the peace. Let the people of Bengal be the final arbiter,” she said.
