Abu Dhabi: Beyond warmth and comfort, clothes give people confidence and dignity, said a UAE daily, praising the “Clothe one million needy children” campaign launched by the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Syrian and Palestinian children in refugee camps in Lebanon are among those who will benefit from the campaign, the Gulf News said.
The campaign was on the way to meeting its target, thanks to the generous support of people from the UAE, the daily said.
It will end on the 19the day of Ramadan to coincide with the Emirati Humanitarian Work Day, an annual event held in memory of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
“But, because of the great need across the world, the charity work of the government and other organisations in the UAE continues throughout the year” to improve the lives of the “less fortunate” in other countries, the paper said.
