New Delhi: The Kendriya Vidalaya Sangathan(KVS) has written to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for appropriate land to open a girls’ school in the Muslim dominated Okhla region in East Delhi.
On 17 July, KVS wrote to DDA for 4 acres on land on proposal of P. Mohammad to open a central girls’ school in the locality.
Earlier KVS also wrote a similar letter to the UP Government for transferring the land adajacent to the Jamia Millia Islamia in the Okhla region to open a central boys’school.
On 6 May, 2013 a team of senior AMU alumni based in Delhi led by P. Mohammad with Mohammad Aslam and Nehal Ahmed Siddique met with the Commissioner Kendriya Vidalaya Sangathan(KVS) Mr. Avinash Dikshit demanding two central schools (One for Boys and One for Girls) in the Okhla region.
There are some land available in the neighbourhood of Okhla, that belong to DDA, New Delhi that is not utilized for any works and now KVS has written a letter to Deputy Chairman of DDA to transfer four acres of land for creating vital quality modern education centre for the urban poor population of this area.
These senior AMU Alumni based in Delhi region are now planning to further pressurise the Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung of NCT Delhi and Chairman of Development Authority (DDA), and Deputy Chairman of Development Authority(DDA), to expedite this land transfer to the KVS.
If the land is transferred to the KVS, entire cost of opening up school and developing infrastructure will be borne by the KVS.
