New Delhi: The central government and financial institutions should announce a relief package for the tourism industry which has suffered a blow in flood-hit Uttarakhand, an association of hotels and restaurants said Tuesday.
The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), in a statement, said: “The unfortunate calamity in Uttarakhand has struck a severe blow to the state’s tourism and hospitality industry, which is the mainstay of its economy.”
“The FHRAI makes an urgent appeal to the union government and financial institutions to formulate a comprehensive relief package for the state’s hospitality and tourism industry, in the form of loan waivers, tax exemptions and subsidies,” said Vijai Pande, honorary secretary of the FHRAI.
