Explosives recovered in Odisha forest

Bhubaneswar : Security forces Wednesday recovered a huge quantity of explosives in a forest of Odisha’s Koraput district during an anti-Maoist operation, an official said.

The seized explosives include three Chinese-made hand grenades, over a 100 gelatine sticks and 22 packets of liquid explosives. They were found in Narayanpatna area, Koraput Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar told IANS.

The explosives were allegedly kept by Maoists in a plastic container.

The Maoists are active in more than half of the state’s 30 districts. Koraput district, over 500 km from here is considered one of their strongholds.
