Kolkata: Following the devastating fire at a city market which claimed 21 lives, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday warned traders to arrange fire safety measures within 15 days.
“Closing a market is not a solution. Along with doing business you have to take fire safety measures in markets. We give you 15 days time to arrange fire safety measures or else you will have to face consequences,” Banerjee said here.
She also asked the city Municipal Corporation, police, the fire services department as well as the disaster management department to discuss with traders and form a task force to check and ensure fire safety measures in markets.
