Andhra chapter of APCR launched

Hyderabad: Association for Protection of Civil Rights launched its Andhra Pradesh chapter in Hyderabad. APCR is civil and human rights protection group which was formed under guardianship of Jamat-e-Islami Hind links with its sister groups and chapters across India. Former member of Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission Justice E. Ismail is being appointed in charge of AP chapter.

The inauguration function organized on Sunday was attended by many human rights and civil rights activists whom pledge their support and cooperation to APCR.

Head of journalism department at Maulana Azad National Urdu University Prof. Vishveshara Rao addressing the inaugural meeting said there is urgent need of drastic changes in India’s policy making initiatives. He said country’s development and growth is projected at 9% but still 90% of its population consisted of Dalits, OBC’s, Advasis and Minorities is lagging behind in every stream of growth and development.

Prof. Vishveshwara said, in India, where 80% of people live below poverty line on Rs. 25 day, politicians spent 10-15 crores only on election campaign. He stressed that civil society should take measures to eliminate consistent growing inequalities in our society.

Justice E. Ismail, Andhra Pardesh in charge of APCR in his address said this newly formed chapter will work towards for the protection of human rights, and improving health, education and employment. He said India need to make for its people justice, health and education easily assessable so that a real welfare state can be formed.

During its AP foundational meeting APCR moved its first resolution supporting protest of EFLU students who are demanding justice for suicide victim Mudassir Kamran.

Many activists from Human Welfare Trust and Welfare Party of India also attended the inaugural ceremony of APCR.
