National Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology organized at AMU

Aligarh: The Department of Applied Physics of Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology, Aligarh Muslim University organised the third successive annual National Conference of the series titled ‘‘Aligarh Nano-III’ in the cutting edge area of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. The ‘Aligarh Nano III’ was supported by the DST (PURSE)/UGC-DRS (SAP-I)/CST (UP)/DST programmes granted to the Department.

Presenting the keynote address, Prof. Seyed E. Hasnain, Director, Kusuma School of Biological Sciences, IIT Delhi, outlined the essence and scope of nanotechnology particularly in the area of medicine, genetics and biology beautifully. He said that the ‘Nanotechnology would immortalise man by 2040’

AMU Vice Chancellor,Lt. Gen (Retd.)ZameerUddin Shah, while delivering presidential address, pointed out that we should not and cannot afford to miss the Nanotechnology revolution as we had missed the Industrial revolution. He said that he would lend full support to nanotechnology programme at AMU and would like to see it grow by leaps and bounds.

The guests of honour, Prof. R.K. Kotnala, NPL, New Delhi and Prof. Mushahid Hussain, Jamia Millia Islamia,New Delhi, in their remarks, congratulated the organising committee for holding the third conference of the series in succession.

15 invited talks were delivered in the two-day conference by the experts belonging to the high profile universities and institutes such as IIT Kanpur, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi,CEERI Pilani,BITS Pilani, SINP Kolkata, BBA University Lucknow, Delhi University, NPL New Delhi, IIC Hyderabad and HP University Shimla.
