Kolkata : Kazakhstan’s Almaty will get an opportunity to taste exquiste Indian tea during its Nowruz celebrations as India’s Tea Board is organising a two-day exhibition and tea tasting session for the general public of the central Asian city.
A delegation, led by Tea Board of India deputy chairman Neelam Meena, and Indian tea exporters and importers will be part of the programme beginning March 22, a release said here Thursday.
The exhibition and tea tasting programme at Almaty, the country’s largest city, is christened “Day of India Tea in Kazakhstan” and it is coinciding with the Nowruz Festival there, marking the beginning of the Persian New Year.
Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev is expected to be present as the chief guest for the celebrations.
Kazakhstan is an important export market for Indian tea, with a market size of 24 million kgs per annum and India meets almost 50 percent of this demand.
During the event, leading Indian tea exporters would get an opportunity to interact with major importers of the Central Asian country in a business meet organised to boost exports, the release said.
