Omar discusses Liyaqat’s arrest with Shinde

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday discussed with union Home Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde, the arrest of Sayyed Liyaqat Shah, whom the Delhi Police has accused of planning a terror strike in the national capital.

“The chief minister emphasized on getting the case thoroughly probed by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a time bound manner to establish the facts,” said an official spokesperson,

Shah’s family Friday claimed he was returning home in Kashmir valley via Nepal from Pakistan under the Jammu and Kashmir government’s rehabilitation policy for surrendered militants.

Shah, 47, was arrested by Delhi Police from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh March 20.Police claimed to have averted a ‘fidayeen’ (suicide) terror attack in Delhi with his arrest. They said Shah was a suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant. A court has sent him in 15 days’ police remand.
