Chandigarh : Punjab Police have arrested four people from Indore in Madhya Pradesh for the murder of a young lawyer in Punjab’s Mohali town, police said Tuesday.
The lawyer, Amarpreet Singh, 32, died when he was fired at from close range after a row with some youths over parking of vehicles outside his house in Mohali town, 10 km from here, Feb 27.
Two others, who were with the victim at the time of the incident, were injured in the shootout.
The shootout over a trivial issue left people shocked in Mohali and Chandigarh.
Police said that of the four arrested from Indore, two were from Chandigarh, one from Ludhiana and one from New Delhi. Police also found weapons from their possession.
“These four people were absconding following the incident. They have been arrested now,” a Mohali police officer said.
Police had earlier arrested four people, including the son of a Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member, for the lawyer’s killing.
Among those arrested earlier, one is the son of a partner of as leading mall in Amritsar, another is his relative, and a third one is a student of law, police said.
