Guwahati: The youth wing of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) on Wednesday urged upon Assam Governor Janaki Ballabh Patnaik to take proper measures to stop all kind of illegal financial activities like chit fund in the state. They also requested the governor to take strict action against the Saradha Group which has cheated thousands of victims in Assam.
The AIUDF Youth Front took out a rally towards last gate from their head office Hatigaon on Tuesday to submit a memorandum with their demands. However, police and security personnel stopped them from proceeding further. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the governor via Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Agnihotri.

“We urge upon the governor so that he steps in to expedite all the investigations taken by CBI and the state police against Saradha Group for an early solution. We also want that strict action is taken against all such type of illegal financial institutes which are working in the state,” said AIUDYF president Badiuj Zaman.
They also demanded the seizers of assets and properties of all the top bureaucrats and ministers whose names are involved in the chit fund scandal to dupe the common people.
“We would also like to request the state government to ensure immediate return of the money of the investors in Assam,” he added.
According to official records here, altogether 222 cases have been registered against 128 chit fund companies in Assam. Besides, 303 persons have been arrested so far. Nearly Rs 94 lakh in cash has been seized and an amount of Rs 24 crore frozen.
