Kolkata : The alleged kingpin of Saradha Group chit fund scam Sudipta Sen and two of his close aides were Tuesday denied bail in a cheating case and sent to judicial custody till June 3 by a West Bengal court.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Baruipur, Debdeep Manna sent Saradha promoter Sen, company director Debjani Mukherjee and senior employee Arvind Kumar Chauhan to judicial custody, a defence counsel said.
The trio was presented before the court in South 24 Parganas district after the expiry of their police custody which was given by the court May 19.
The case is related to a police complaint given by a Saradha agent accusing them of cheating and fraud.
The accused were sent to judicial custody on earlier occasions as well in connection with other police complaints and first information reports filed in West Bengal and other states.
Odisha Police Tuesday sought the custody of the three accused for their involvement in illegal money circulation in the state.
Sen, Chauhan and Mukherjee were arrested from Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir April 23, days after the Group collapsed, unable to repay lakhs of mostly poor depositors from rural areas.
