Allama Iqbal remembered

    Aligarh: The Literary and Cultural Society, Ross Masood Hall, Aligarh Muslim University organized an on-the-spot Open University Essay Writing Competition on the life and thought of Allama Iqbal to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great thinker poet.

    The essay writing competitions were organized on “Message of Allama Iqbal’s Life and Thought” and “Proclamation of Contemporary Youth in the Poetry of Iqbal”. Twenty-one students from various halls participated in the competition and wrote their essays in Urdu, English and Hindi. A documentary film on the life of Allama Iqbal was also screened.

    Abdullah Azzam, General Secretary, Students’ Islamic Organization, AMU Zone and Mohammad Nasr Nasir, Vice President, Islamic Federation for Education and Welfare delivered speeches on the message of Allama Iqbal’s life and poetry.

    Dr. Ali Jauhar, Associate Professor, Department of Urdu and Warden in RM Hall gave an expert lecture on Allama Iqbal’s personality with special reference to his excellence in Urdu poetry.

    Dr. S.M. Jawed Akhtar, Provost, Ross Masood Hall paid rich tributes to Allama Iqbal and urged students to learn lessons from the life and poetry of Allama Iqbal and contribute to the welfare of their community and preserving the pluralistic ethos of the country.

    Ameen Ahmad, Secretary, Literary & Cultural Society, convened the programme. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mohd. Tariq, Joint-Secretary.
