Denied ticket, BJP MLA joins Congress in Delhi

    By IANS,

New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Harsharan Singh Balli, after being denied a ticket from his Hari Nagar constituency defected from the BJP and joined Congress Wednesday.

“I was in Congress in 1970s and returned to my home again. I served BJP for 36 years but they deceived me,” Balli said here at Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office.

State Congress chief J.P. Agarwal welcomed Balli’s decision.

With Balli joining the Congress, it would be interesting to see from which constituency he would get the ticket if the party decides to field him.

The Congress has already decided to field Surender Kumar Setia from Hari Nagar held by Balli, who is a four-time legislator.

The BJP denied Balli a ticket after it decided to cede the seat to its old ally, the Akali Dal (Badal), which will field Shyam Sharma.
