A court ruling ordered Tuesday to end the state of emergency immediately instead of the previously announced date of Thursday. However, security forces failed to do so as they did not receive the court ruling, Xinhua reported citing Minister of Administrative Development Hany Mahmoud.

He said the government has not received the text of the court ruling yet, according to MENA.

Egypt’s interim government announced a state of emergency and curfew Aug 14 when security forces dispersed two sit-ins by supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in Cairo and Giza governorates.
