Roy said that Musrhidabad has traditionally been the Congress strong hold, but still 66 years after independence, nothing much has changed in the district.

The former Railway Minister and All India Secretary of Trinamul Congress was speaking in a Municipal Election campaigning at FUC ground, Berhampur, Murshidabad on 13th November, 2013.

He also criticized present Railway Minister of State Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for failing to start his project even after one year in office.
He also said that in six months’ time UPA government will go and a new government will come to power. Suggesting formation of some third block, the TMC MP said that his party will play instrumental role in the new government.

State President of Trinamul Congress Minority Cell Advocate Idris Ali, however, aimed his gun at the “34 years of misrule of the Left Front Government,” for ignoring the Muslim populated district of Murshidabad.

The lone TMC MLA from Murshidabad’s Sagardighi Assembly Constituency and State Minister of Food Processing and Horticulture Subrata Saha said that the people of Murshidabad will now defeat both the Congress and the CPIM in the coming Municipal election will be held on 22nd November, 2013.
