New Delhi: The India Art Fair will begin here Jan 30, and 47 art galleries from across the world will showcase modern and contemporary art practices including painting, sculpture, new media, installation and performance art.
A first public sound art project, a multi-arts installation encompassing video, photography and performance, along with a few other interesting projects will be the highlights of the sixth edition of the event.
This year’s international galleries showcase a dynamic mix, from returning European galleries to a number of newcomers who desire to explore the Indian art market, forge key relationships and meet new collectors from South Asia, a statement said Saturday.
The first public sound art project, “Listen Up!” that will allow a city-wide installation to make sound art publicly accessible through mobile phones, will be launched at the fair.
Jose Garcia Miguel, an artist from Portugal, will showcase a multi-arts installation “Tears of Portugal” encompassing video, photography and performance.
In addition to the participation of leading and emerging contemporary galleries, an extensive art projects programme spanning the outdoor and indoor fair space will be in focus as well.
There are a series of cultural events lined up alongside this edition, which include an exhibition curated by Raqs Media Collective, and a collaborative exhibition by KHOJ International Artists’ Association and the Tate Modern.
