Jamia offers a unique Seminar Course on State-Building in Afghanistan

    New Delhi: The Afghanistan Studies Centre at Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, beginning today, is organizing an intensive six-week seminar course on “State-Building in Afghanistan” scheduled to be held from 10th October to 26th November, 2013.

    The course will be taught by Professor Rani D Mullen, Government Department, College of William and Marry, Virginia, USA and currently Senior Fulbright-Nehru Scholar at the Centre.

    The course will focus on the rebuilding of Afghanistan in the immediate aftermath of the fall of the Taliban and analyze current and likely future policy options for state-rebuilding. The course will be structured as a combination of lectures, discussion and writing in research paper. Successful completion of the course will entitled the student to a certificate of participation. The maximum intake for the course will be 20 students.

    o Collapse of Empires and the Current State-Building Project

    o The Taliban Years, Bonn and the Blueprint for Afghanistan

    o The Bonn Process and the Larger Issue of Institutional Design

    o The Legal and Illegal Economy

    o Security Provision

    o Development and Aid in Afghanistan

    o Impact of Regional Politics and Future Prospect
