Six killed in Iraq attacks

    Baghdad : At least six people were killed Friday and 14 others wounded in a series of attacks in Iraq, a police source said.

    A man and his wife were killed when a roadside bomb targeted their car in Bahrez area of Baquba, some 60 km away from Baghdad, the source told Xinhua.

    Eight people were injured when five roadside bombs exploded near the houses of policemen in Aslah area, 5 km northeast of Baquba, capital of Diyala province, police added.

    Meanwhile, a roadside bomb that struck an Iraqi army patrol killed two people in Mazrah village of Baiji city, 200 km north of Baghdad, the police source said.

    One civilian was killed and another seriously injured when a roadside bomb struck a car near Dujail area, some 50 km north of Baghdad, he added.

    A gunman killed an employee of the Iraqi Ministry of Justice near his home in the Amiriya district in Baghdad while five people were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded in the Dora district in the city, the source said.

    Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, almost 6,000 Iraqis were killed and over 14,000 injured from January to September this year.
