IMRC invites proposals for water wells & hand pumps

By TCN News,

Palo Alto, California: Indian Muslim Relief & Charities (IMRC), a US-based organization that works in India, is inviting proposals for water wells or hand pumps in impoverished villages, slums in India. Community workers, individuals passionate about doing something good, non-profit organizations can apply. IMRC’s water wells program is about building a reliable, clean source of water at a Masjid, Maktab, School. With taps inside and public taps outside for people in the area – irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

A typical water well includes digging a bore, an electric water pump, tank, taps and pipes. Hand pumps work better in some cases where there is no electricity, where people cannot afford to pay for electricity or where there is a risk of theft.

Please email us your proposal for our review with the following information: Location (village/slum, district, state); A short description of the hardships people are facing in getting drinking water; Where you plan to build the well: Masjid/Maktab/Other; Number of people who will benefit from this; Contact name, phone number, email. Organization’s name if it is an organization that is submitting the proposal.

We highly encourage young people to team up and take this as their community project. Contact email for submissions, questions: [email protected]
