Baghdad : As many as 31 people were killed and 56 injured following two car bomb attacks at a Shia election rally here Friday, an interior ministry source said.
The two back-to-back bombings struck as supporters of the Sadiqun bloc, the political wing of Iraqi Shiite group Asaeb Ahel al-Haq, were holding a parliamentary election rally near a sports club in east Baghdad, Xinhua reported citing the source.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, which has occurred less than a week before Iraqis are to participate in April 30 parliamentary elections, the first in the country since the US troops withdrew in late 2011.
