New Delhi: The movement for justice for the victim of Bhagana violence is growing day by day. On April 27, protested at Jantar Mantar in the national capital. The protesters called the dharna a “prelude,” adding that if the government and political parties fail to respond to it timely then they may witness “huge public protest” in the coming days.
“The anger of all democratic forces is growing against this political system which remain mute and helpless to Haryana’s caste violence against Dalits. It is time Indian state wake up otherwise Haryana may go violent in future and Dalits may retaliate violently,” said Vidya Bhushan Rawat, a rights activist.
During the day, a huge protest was organised at Jantar Mantar. The protesters were supposed to visit the house of the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde but the police did not allow the demonstrators to march beyond Jantar Mantar.
Tension grew and people broke the iron grills of the police. Later, a delegation was allowed to meet Shinde who assured them of full action.
Protesters have decided to wait and watch the course of action government takes.
The protesters demanded that the violence against Dalit women in Harayana now need an institutional response otherwise democratic structure and social amity in Haryana will be in endangered in the coming days.
They urged the government to take steps so that Dalit women get justice and the supremacy of Khap Panchayats are challenged.
