New Delhi : Demand for power in the capital might shoot up to 6,100 MW this summer, surpassing all previous records, a Delhi government official said Tuesday.
“Delhi is anticipating a peak demand of 6,100 MW in the first fortnight of June and power distribution companies have made adequate arrangements to meet the anticipated peak demand,” said Principal Secretary (Power) Arun Goyal.
The city is reeling under intense heat which has led to high demand of power.
In the summer of 2013, the power demand rose to 5,653 MW.
Goyal urged people to use electrical appliances, particularly air-conditioners judiciously.
