New Delhi : Delhi experienced the hottest April 29 since 2010 as Tuesday’s maximum temperature settled at 41 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average. Hot weather is expected in the city Wednesday too, the Met office said.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in 2010 too was 41 degrees.
Delhi residents had a tough time as the city reeled under the scorching sun and the sky remained clear through the day. Those riding two-wheelers in particular were seen covered in scarves to protect themselves.
“It was pleasant in the morning but the afternoon was extremely hot today… I hope the temperatures will drop a bit in a couple of days,” said Ajay Batra, 26, a sales executive who commutes on a motorcycle.
However, the IMD has forecast no respite and has forecast the temperatures to rise further Wednesday.
“The sky will remain clear through the day and the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 42 degrees Celsius and the minimum will settle around 23 degrees,” said the IMD official.
Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at 22.6 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average.
Monday’s maximum temperature was recorded a notch below the season’s average at 39.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was three notches below the season’s average at 21 degrees Celsius.
