Hyderabad : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah Friday met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here.
Shah had a breakfast meeting with the president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The two leaders understood to have discussed the current political situation and relations between the two parties.
TDP is a partner in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre. BJP also shares power with the TDP in Andhra Pradesh.
Telugu actor and Jana Sena party founder Pawan Kalyan Thursday evening met Shah, who is on a two-day visit to Hyderabad. Described as a courtesy call by the BJP sources, it was strictly a one-to-one meeting.
Pawan, younger brother of Congress leader and superstar K. Chiranjeevi, was the star campaigner for BJP-TDP alliance in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the recent election.
Shah had told a meeting of BJP workers Thursday that the party plans to strengthen the base in the southern states.
On his first visit to Telangana after taking over as the BJP chief, Shah said he had lot of hopes on Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Shah is scheduled to address BJP’s village presidents later in the day.
