NTPC signs up fuel supply for 14000 MW capacity

New Delhi : State-run power generator NTPC has signed fuel supply agreements for 14,010 MW capacity to be commissioned by March 2015, the company said Wednesday.

“The Coal Supply Agreements (CSAs) were signed for 14,010 MW capacity commissioned or to be commissioned between April 2009 to March 2015,” NTPC chairman Arup Roy Choudhury said at the company’s Annual General Meeting here.

During the financial year 2013-14, NTPC’s generation capacity crossed 43,000 MW and its current installed capacity is 43,128 MW.

1,835 MW capacity was added during 2013-14, while work was awarded for 4,150 MW capacity, the chairman said.

The new government’s strong focus on tapping all the possible sources of power generation also opens up new business opportunities for NTPC, Choudhury said.

He also said NTPC will set up a 4,000 MW power plant in Telangana that would serve both the newly created state as well as Andhra Pradesh.
