Dubai : An Indian expatriate was arrested Wednesday for stealing over $54,000 from his company, a media report here said.
The suspect, identified only as A.A.A., has been accused of stealing 200,000 dirhams (around $54,450) from his UAE-based company and transferring it to his personal account in Sharjah, Gulf News reported.
He fled to an unknown destination after committing the robbery.
In its police complaint against A.A.A., the company said the employee had stolen 200,000 dirhams by misusing the company’s authorisation.
Police later tracked down the suspect and arrested him. On searching the suspect’s house, police recovered 119,000 dirhams.
The suspect has been referred to the public prosecution for further action.
