The ICT is a specially constituted court set up to prosecute those who committed war crimes during Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War.

The tribunal had declared Jabbar an absconder earlier and appointed Supreme Court lawyer Abul Hasan as his counsel.

Investigations into his alleged crimes started May 19 last year.

Jabbar is charged with five types of crimes against humanity committed during Bangladesh’s Liberation War.
