Jerusalem : The Israeli military Wednesday decided to allow 480 trucks into the Gaza Strip via the Karm Abu Salem crossing.
“The trucks are loaded with goods for the commercial and agricultural sectors as well as aid supplies”, MENA news agency quoted Raed Fattouh, chairman of the coordination committee for the entry of goods to the blockaded Gaza Strip, as saying.
Diesel and cooking gas and over 100 trucks laden with construction materials needed for UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and UN Development Programme (UNDP) projects would be allowed soon into the Gaza Strip, he said.
Karm Abu Salem, also known as Kerem Shalom terminal, is the only crossing through which goods can enter the besieged coastal enclave from Israel.
The siege on the Gaza Strip has been imposed by Israel since the summer of 2006.
