New Delhi : A total of 73,368 people in the border villages of Jammu and Kashmir were displaced temporarily due to the recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan, Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said Wednesday.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Chaudhary said: “As many as 73,368 people were reportedly displaced temporarily from the border villages of districts Jammu, Kathua and Samba due to ceasefire violations (by Pakistan).”
The minister said there was no specific scheme for rehabilitation of such people. However, the affected villagers were shifted to safe shelters.
“They were provided with basic amenities till restoration of normalcy on the border,” he said.
