Srinagar : Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday paid floral tributes to eight army soldiers killed in the Dec 5 terror strike on an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir.
Immediately after his arrival at the Srinagar International Airport, Modi flew in an army helicopter to the Chinar Corps headquarters in Badami Bagh cantonment area of the city.
“The prime minister laid a wreath at the war memorial inside the Chinar Corps headquarters commending the supreme sacrifice of eight brave hearts of the army, who were martyred fighting terrorists at Mahura camp Dec 5,” a senior army officer told IANS here.
Eight soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel, were killed when guerrillas stormed an army field regiment camp in Mahura near the Uri border town in Baramulla district.
Three policemen were also killed in the attack.
All the six guerrillas, who carried out the attack, were killed.
