Indian Cultural Society holds a membership drive at Sharjah

Sharjah: Indian Cultural Society (ICS), an NRI outfit of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) – a social welfare organization that embraces the entire Indian expatriate community in UAE – arranged a membership drive here.

The mission of the ICS is to support the expatriate Indian community with guidance, counselling and educating through awareness programmes.

The membership campaign was held here on December 5. The programme was presided over by Naseer Karaje, chief of ICS, Karnataka state, who explained the services rendered by ICS in the Emirates among expatriate community. Latheefmulur delivered the welcome address and conducted the programme.

Indian Cultural Society respects the dignity and uniqueness of every Indian expatriate in UAE irrespective of his job, trade of profession in which he is employed while extending help and support to the needy and most deserving, a release from ICS said.

On this occasion, Shakir Haq Nellyadi said there was a need of new political movement in India to uphold the country’s sovereignty and its values. “The people in India have lost trust on so called secular parties. The country has become a safe haven for corporate houses and billionaires while areas like education and healthcare have been losing important,” he said adding, media giants also chose to be servants of corporate sector.

Shakir opined that the recent election results in India have proved that the so-called seculars have made no effort to counter the Modi wave and went on to claim that elections in India are mere a match fixing game by political parties and Corporate giants.

“In this confused scenario, people from the marginalized groups need to be part of a political movement, with two core agendas: Freedom from hunger and freedom from fear. We will strive to hand over the power to the people,” he said.

Naseer Karaje entrusted SDPI membership form to Zakir, Kaikamba and Muzammil Sagar. Munavvar from Tamil Nadu general secretary, UAE and Ilyas from Karnataka president of India Cultural Society Sharjah area, were present in the program. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Indian Cultural Society Sharjah area president, Ilyas Melkar, the release added.
