Delhi man gets 10 years in jail for rape

New Delhi: A court here sent a married man to jail for 10 years for raping a girl after posing as a bachelor and falsely promising to marry her.

People treating females as a commodity or an object for sex…should be dealt with sternly, said Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhat while sentencing Chanderhas Yadav to rigorous imprisonment for ten years. Yadav was also slapped with a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.

He had falsely represented to her that he is a bachelor and would marry her at any cost, the court held.

According to prosecution, the woman knew Yadav for five years.

Yadav, on the false pretext of marriage, raped her first time Feb 14, 2008.

Yadav disclosed to the victim in November, 2013 that he was married, and refused to marry her. Following this, the victim filed a complaint against Yadav in Dabri police station in west Delhi.

Police arrested Yadav Nov 29, 2013.

The order was delivered Monday and released Friday.
