Kolkata : Expressing his disgust at the Trinamool Congress over the alleged involvement of its leaders in the Saradha scam, former party parliamentarian Sucharu Haldar joined the BJP Sunday.

Haldar, who was Lok Sabha member during 2009-2014 from Ranaghat in West Bengal, crossed over to the Bharatiya Janata Party at a public meeting in Kalyani in Nadia district, BJP state secretary and spokesman Ritesh Tewari told IANS.

“I think the BJP is the most civilised party now. Except a handful of people, most of those in the Trinamool are not good.

“And the way skeletons are tumbling out of the Trinamool closet, with the arrest of its leaders in the Saradha scam, has shocked me. I was completely in the dark about the shady activities of these leaders. This convinced me I was in bad company,” Haldar told IANS.

The medical practitioner was not considered by Trinamool for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
