New Delhi:The Congress Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “preaching” to the youth of the country to shun drugs but had done nothing for the most affected state of Punjab where his BJP shared power with Akali Dal.
“We liked it, but we were also surprised that the state which has the maximum drug problem Punjab and has a combined SAD-BJP rule, the prime minister has not said anything about that,” Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told the media here.
“The Indian government is responsible for stopping drugs trafficking, the prime minster did not say what steps he was taking to stop this,” he said.
Ahmed said: “Without mentioning or referring to these issues, the PM was simply trying to preach to the youth.”
Modi, in his monthly “Mann Ki Baat” programme Sunday spoke against drug abuse and said the money used to buy drugs could be funding terrorist activities.
