Thiruvananthapuram: With BJP president Amit Shah on his second visit to Kerala – where the party is yet to open its account in the state assembly – it has been decided that the party will woo film personalities to get support in the state.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might seek help from Guru Nair, a former office bearer of the Congress in Maharashtra, who has joined the BJP.
Nair told IANS that he met a few film personalities, including actor-turned politician and former state minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar and actor Lalu Alex.
“I have spoken to Alex and am trying to reach a leading actress. I have also informed the state BJP leaders about this and they have given the green signal,” said Nair.
Alex told IANS that he has been contacted by Nair.
“I told him (Nair) that during the Lok Sabha election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised many things and if he is able to do 50 percent of what he has said, I will salute him,” said Alex.
The BJP is also looking for actor Suresh Gopi.
“Modi invite me for his swearing in ceremony and I did attend it,” said Gopi.
Winding up his two-day visit to Kerala, Amit Shah Saturday told reporters near Kochi, that the NDA will welcome the small parties with open arms.
“At the upcoming local bodies election (September 2015), the BJP will contest all the seats and the BJP will be a force to reckon with after the next assembly polls (May 2016) are over,” said Shah.
