Jerusalem: Several rockets were launched Monday from the northern Gaza Strip into the Mediterranean Sea as part of tests performed by Palestinian armed groups, Israeli media reported.
A military spokesman confirmed to Efe news agency the firing of rockets without specifying their number.
Last Friday, Israeli aircraft bombed a position of the armed wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, the “Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades” in Gaza, in which no injuries were recorded.
The airstrike, the first of its kind since a ceasefire was agreed in late August ending the Israeli military offensive in Gaza, was in response to the firing of a missile that fell in southern Israel without causing any injuries.
Hamas described the Israeli strike as a “dangerous escalation”, without commenting on its recent firing of rockets.
